Volunteer

Burnside is always happy to have new and returning
​volunteers ​come in to help with a variety of activities.

Congregrate lunch

Volunteers are used for serving lunch as well as getting drinks for patrons and cleaning the tables in the dining room.

Front Desk

This volunteer is responsible for many important tasks, including answering the phone, directing callers to the proper staff person, answering questions, providing general information to the public, welcoming visitors to the center, and helping them find the activity they have come for. 

meal delivery

Volunteer drivers deliver meals to home-bound seniors on scheduled routes using their own vehicles.  Mileage reimbursement is available.

MMAP Office

After extensive training in Medicaid and Medicare, volunteers assist clients by helping them access health benefit programs and answering questions. Previous experience with insurance and benefits is not necessary.

Transportation

Volunteer drivers transport patients to their medical appointments using Burnside’s medical van. 

Classes

Volunteers have the opportunity to teach different topics to our patrons such as woodworking, stained glass, knitting, and crocheting. New classes and ideas are always welcome! 

Daily Activities

Volunteers also assist with various activities such as games, computers, and basic classes.
